James Naismith was born in Almonte, Ontario, on
November 6, 1861. He graduated from McGill University in Montreal in 1887 and
played rugby and lacrosse. He invented basketball at the YMCA (now Springfield
College) in Springfield, Massachusetts, in 1891. In 1898, he became director
of physical education at the University of Kansas. He died in Kansas on
November 28, 1939.
Knowlton Nash was born in Toronto on November
18, 1927. He was a CBC news broadcaster.
Steve Nash was born on February 7, 1974 in Johannesburg, South Africa. His parents relocated to Canada, settling in Victoria, British Columbia, before he was two years old. He is a point guard for the Phoenix Suns of the National Basketball Association (NBA). He was named NBA Most Valuable Player for two consecutive seasons.

1879, in Montreal and died on November 18, 1941. She was a poet and wrote Romance du Vin.
Kate Nelligan was born on March 16, 1951, in
London, Ontario. She is a stage and movie actress and she was nominated for an
Oscar for best supporting actress in Prince Of Tides.
Cindy Nicholas was born in Toronto on August
20, 1957. She became the first person to swim across Lake Ontario and was the
first woman to complete a two-way English Channel swim.
Nickelback is a Vancouver-based band that
released an album in 2001. Their hits include Too Bad and How You
Remind Me. Lead singer Chad Kroeger sang with Josey Scott on Hero for the Spiderman movie.

Catherine O'Hara was born on March 4, 1954 in Toronto. She is an actress and comedian. She is well known for her many appearances on the sketch show SCTV, the film roles as Delia Deetz in Beetlejuice, Kate McCallister in Home Alone, and Sally in The Nightmare Before Christmas.
Bobby Orr was born in Parry Sound, Ontario, on
March 20, 1948. He played defence for the Boston Bruins (1966-76) and the
Chicago Blackhawks (1976-78). He won the James Norris (best defenceman) trophy
eight consecutive times (1968-75). He is acknowledged as the innovator of the
"offensive defenceman."
Brian Orser was born in Belleville, Ontario, on
December 18, 1961. He was the 1987 men's skating world champion and won the
silver at the 1984 and 1988 Olympics.
Walter Ostanek was on April 20, 1935, in Duparquet, Quebec. He is a well known accordionist from St. Catharines, Ontario where his family settled as a boy.
Ostanek became a popular entertainer, in Southern Ontario, performing Cleveland-Style Polkas and Waltzes.
In 1963, Ostanek and his band would record their first of many albums. Over his career, Ostanek would become known as Canada's Polka King. He has received three Grammy Awards and he has been nominated thirteen times.
Ostanek hosted his own television shows (one for fourteen consecutive years), radio shows, and polka tours.
Walter Ostanek is a member of Canada's Walk of Fame.
Ottawa Senators is an NHL team. The club was founded in 1992 and is named after the original Senators hockey club of 1893 to 1934 which won 10 Stanley Cups and was one of the founding five teams of the NHL.
Our Lady Peace is a Toronto-based rock group formed
in 1992. Their 1997 album titled Clumsy included the songs Superman's
Dead and Automatic Flowers.
