John Ireland was born in Vancouver on December
30, 1915, and starred in over 200 movies. He died on March 21, 1992.
He was a supporting actor in several notable Westerns including My Darling Clementine (1946) and Howard Hawks' Red River (1948). He was nominated for an Oscar as Best Supporting Actor in All the King's Men (1949).
A prolific performer in films and early TV, Ireland had made the transition to supporting roles by the mid-50s, playing cynical villains in films like Vengeance Valley (1951), Gunfight at the O.K. Corral (1956), Spartacus (1960) and 55 Days at Peking (1962).

Michael Ironside was born in Toronto on February 12,
1950. He is a character actor and starred in the movie Top Gun and had a

Worthington got through a back door into the Dallas city jail as Oswald was
being transferred. He was the lone Canadian reporter covering the transfer.
A.Y. Jackson was born in Montreal on October 3,
1882 and is one of the Group of 7 artists. He died in Kleinburg, Ontario, on
April 5, 1974.
Joshua Jackson was born in Vancouver and lived in
California for eight years before moving back to British Columbia with his
mother. At age 11, he appeared in a potato chip commercial. His first film role
was in 1991 in the drama Crooked Hearts. He starred in the Mighty
Ducks movies and Dawson's Creek t.v. series as Pacey.

Peter Jennings was born in Toronto on July 29, 1938. He was a Canadian-American journalist and news anchor. He was the sole anchor of ABC's World News Tonight from 1983 until his death in 2005 of complications from lung cancer.
Chris Jericho was born in Winnipeg and is a
professional wrestler. He has wrestled in the ECW, WCW and WWF (now WWE).
Norman Jewison was born in Toronto on July 21,
1926. He founded the Canadian Film Centre in Toronto and has directed movies
including In The Heat Of The Night.
Ben Johnson was born in Falmouth, Jamaica on
December 30, 1961. He had set the world record in 1987 and the Olympic record in
1988, but was stripped of the records and the Olympic gold when he was tested
positive for steroids. After returning from a four-year ban, he was found to
have used steroids again and was banned for life.

Kids In The Hall was a Canadian sketch comedy group, consisting of comedians Dave Foley, Kevin McDonald, Bruce McCulloch, Mark McKinney and Scott Thompson that was formed in 1984. It was also the group's television show that ran from 1988 to 1994 on CBC, CBS, and HBO. The theme song for the show was the instrumental "Having an Average Weekend" by the Canadian band Shadowy Men on a Shadowy Planet.
William Lyon Mackenzie King was born in Berlin (now
Kitchener), Ontario, on December 17, 1874. He was prime minister of Canada three
times (December 29, 1921 to June 28, 1926, September 25, 1926 to August 6, 1930,
October 23, 1935 to November 15, 1948). He died at his home in Kingsmere, Wright
County, Quebec on July 22, 1950.
Gene Kiniski was a former football player who
became a wrestler. On January 6, 1977, he beat Joe Thesz for the heavyweight
title.
Diana Krall was born in Nanimo, British Columbia, on
November 16, 1964. She is jazz singer and recently married Elvis Costello.
