John Labatt was born in Westminister Township, Middlesex County, Upper Canada (Ontario) on December 11, 1838. He was an entrepreneur and brewer. He died in London, Ontario, on April 27, 1915.

Elmer Lach was born in Nokomis, Saskatchewan on January 22, 1918. He was the centre with the Montreal Canadiens (1940-55).

Guy Lafleur was born in Thurso, Quebec on September 20, 1951. He was the right winger with the Montreal Canadiens (1971-84). He returned to the NHL in 1988 and played with the New York Rangers and Quebec Nordiques.

k.d. lang was born in Consort, Alberta, on November 2, 1961. She is a singer-songwriter and her songs include Constant Cravings.

Sir Wilfrid Laurier was born in St. Lin, Quebec, on May 20, 1814. He was prime minister of Canada from July 11, 1896 to October 6, 1911. He developed the Canadian Navy and western settlement. He died in Ottawa on February 17, 1919.

Avril Lavigne, who is from Napanee, Ontario, won a contest to sing with Shania Twain four years ago. This year she released her first album, Let Go, which broke Madonna's record for the most consecutive times her album has risen on the pop charts. Her hits include Complicated and Sk8er Boi.

Mario Lemieux was born in Montreal on October 5, 1965. He plays hockey with the Pittsburgh Penguins since 1984 and had retired twice, once due to Hodgkin's disease in 1992. He led Canada to victory in the 1987 Canada Cup series with 11 goals.

Rene Levesque was born in New Carlisle, Quebec, in 1922. He was the Quebec premier from 1976 to 1985 and wanted Quebec to separate from Canada. He died on November 1, 1987.

Eugene Levy was born in Hamilton, Ontario, on December 17, 1946. He is an original member of SCTV and starred in the American Pie movies.

Lennox Lewis was born London, England, on September 6, 1965. He came to Kitchener, Ontario, to train for boxing and at the 1988 Olympics. He won gold at the super heavyweight division. He is currently the heavyweight champ.

Loverboy is a Vancouver-based quintet formed in 1981. Their songs include Working For The Weekend (1988).

Luba (Kowalchyk) was born in Montreal. She is a singer-songwriter and her songs include Let It Go (1984) and How Many Rivers To Cross (1986).
