Lester B. Pearson was born on April 23, 1897, in Newtonbrook, Ontario. In 1949, he handled the negotiations that formed NATO. In 1956, he established the U.N. Emergency Force to keep peace during the Suez Crisis and was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957. He was prime minister from April 22, 1963 to April 20, 1968. He died in Ottawa on December 27, 1972.

Fred Penner was born in Winnipeg in 1946. He is a children's songwriter and was a former spokesperson for UNICEF.

Matthew Perry was born in Williamstown, Massachusetts, on August 19, 1969, and raised in Ottawa. His mother worked for Pierre Trudeau and is the stepson of NBC news reporter Keith Morrison. He starred as Chandler in the t.v. series Friends (1994-2004).

Mary Pickford (Gladys Mary Smith) was born in Toronto in 1893. She starred in many silent films and won the 1929 Academy Award for best actress performance in "Coquette." She was referred to as "America's Sweetheart." She died on May 29, 1979.

Pierre Pilote was born on December 11, 1931, in Kenogami, Quebec. He played defence for several NHL teams and won the James Norris trophy (1963-5).

Gordon Pinsent was born in Grand Falls, Newfoundland, on July 12, 1930. He is an actor who has starred in several Stratford, Ontario, plays and Canadian television shows and movies.

Jacques Plante was born in Mount Carmel, Quebec, in 1929. He was a goaltender for the Montreal Canadiens and originated the face mask and roving style for goalies. He won the Vezina trophy seven times. He died in 1986.

Platinum Blonde is a Toronto-based quartet formed in the early 80s. Their hits include Crying Over You (1985).

Christopher Plummer was born in Toronto on December 13, 1927. He is a stage and television actor.

Sarah Polley was born in Toronto in 1979. She starred in the television series Road To Avonlea and the movie The Sweet Hereafter.

Denis Potvin was born on October 25, 1953, in Ottawa. He played defence with the New York Islanders from 1973-88. He won the Stanley Cup four times and the James Norris trophy three times. He is among the all-time leaders of defenceman in goals and assists.

Elvis Presley's only concerts outside the United States were held in Toronto and Ottawa.

Jason Priestley was born in Vancouver on August 28, 1969. He starred in the t.v. series Beverly Hills 90120 and directed several documentaries including one on the Barenaked Ladies. Also, he is involved in stock car racing and was injured during a race in 2003.

Prince, whose wife is from Toronto, wrote and recorded his Musicology album in Toronto. Also, the album cover features the Toronto skyline.

Quebec Nordiques, now the Colorado Avalanche, started in the NHL in the 1979-80 season.
