Maurice Richard was born in Montreal on August 4, 1921. He played right wing for the Montreal Canadiens from 1942 to 1960 and was nicknamed "The Rocket". He was NHL's first 50-goal season scorer (1944-5) and first to score 500 goals (1957). He was a 14-time all star. He died on May 27, 2000.

Mordecai Richler was born in Montreal on January 27, 1931. He was a novelist and his books include The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1959).

Louis Riel was born in St. Boniface, Manitoba, in 1844. He led the Metis (French Native Indians) to two rebellions in 1870 and 1875 that led to his arrest of treason. On November 16, 1895, he was hung for treason.

Lloyd Robertson was born in Stratford, Ontario, on January 19, 1934. He is a journalist and the anchor of CTV news.

Robbie Robertson was born in Montreal on July 5, 1943. He is a singer-songwriter and is a founding member of The Band. His solo songs include Somewhere Down The Crazy River (1987).

Larry Robinson was born in Winchester, Ontario, on June 5, 1951. He played defence for the Montreal Canadiens and Los Angeles Kings.

Rolling Stones was the major headline band for the SARS benefit concert in Toronto in July 2003. They have made several pre-tour concerts in Toronto including their Forty Licks tour.

In 1977, Keith Richards was charged with trafficking in Canada. A judge suspended a jail time sentence for Keith to continue rehab and perform community service including a benefit concert, performed in Oshawa, for the blind.

Rowdy Roddy Piper was born Roderick George Toombs on April 17, 1954 and raised in Winnipeg. He is a Canadian professional wrestler and film actor. He was billed from Glasgow, Scotland and is known for his signature kilt and bagpipe entrance music. He earned the nickname "Rowdy" by displaying his trademark "Scottish" rage, spontaneity, and quick wit, and is also nicknamed "Hot Rod". He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment working on the RAW brand making special appearances.

Patrick Roy was born in Quebec City on October 5, 1965. He played goalie for the Montreal Canadiens and Colorado Avalanche and is the all-time winning goalie. He announced his retirement from hockey in May 2003.

Royal Canadian Air Farce is a Canadian comedy troupe that started as a radio show on CBC radio from 1973 to 1997, and ran on television until 2008 on CBC Television.

The show, a weekly topical sketch comedy series, focuses on political and cultural satire, and is currently one of the most popular Canadian television shows. A short-lived Air Farce TV series was broadcast in 1981, and further TV specials aired in 1982, 1983 and 1984. After a long hiatus from TV, a 1992 New Year's Eve special for CBC-TV was well received, and a new Air Farce TV series began in October of 1993. The TV series is still on the air to this date.

Current cast members are Roger Abbott, Don Ferguson, Luba Goy, Jessica Holmes (2003–present), Craig Lauzon (2004–present) and Alan Park (2004–present).

Past and other cast members are John Morgan (1993–2001), who retired in 2001 and died on November 15, 2004, Dave Broadfoot (1993–present, occasional guest star on the television series) and Penelope Corrin, who filled in during Jessica's maternity leave during the first two months of 2007.

Radio cast members were Roger Abbott, Dave Broadfoot (1973-1988, frequent appearances as a "special guest" thereafter), Barbara Budd (frequent appearances as a "special guest", 1984-1991), Don Ferguson, Luba Goy and John Morgan

The group started in Montreal, Quebec in 1970 as an improvisational theatre revue called The Jest Society, a play on then-Prime Minister Pierre Trudeau's famous goal of making Canada a "Just Society".
